Breeding, Producing, Competing and Selling horses all require vision, expertise and patience. Kyle and Kelly certainly have these qualities, although a relatively young business there is little at BDA that gives away its relative infancy. With excellent facilities to Breed, Produce, Compete and sell top class Sports horse. Kyle and Kelly have shaped the home of BDA to meet their needs and those of their client’s. With over 25 years of combined equestrian expertise behind them it goes without saying not only do they both think in terms of what is the best for the horses but also the yard and the business.
The fact they share the same interests is obvious. However, the reason BDA works so well goes beyond that. It comes from a similarity in the way they look at the philosophy behind the breeding, producing, training and education of the modern sport horse. They share the same vision and drive to manage and grow BDA Equestrian.
Kyle is a competitive show jumper and competes at International level, with a show jumping career which started when he represented his country as a junior. Kyle is the backbone to the breeding, breaking and sales element of the business. Kelly who also rides at International level, started her career as an Event Rider some 15 years ago and has competed up to 3* level. Kelly continues to compete, whilst running the competition schedules and operations at BDA.
What makes BDA Equestrian so special ?
Top Class Sport Horses...
From the very beginning, BDA have been building up a selection of high-quality broodmares, which they believe will continue to produce top class sport horses for years to come. Their breeding programme began 10 years ago. Since then they have gradually grown the breeding operation to include 7 mares, and 3 licensed stallions. It’s very important to BDA that the mares they use have proven mother lines. They all carry exceptional bloodlines from eventing and show jumping respectively. Movement, conformation and temperament are paramount.
To strengthen the breeding programme the three-year-old fillies are performance tested, and stallion matched, this ensures the valuable genetics are continued before the fillies start their sporting careers.
In selecting stallions, they are careful to choose modern type sport horses with strong performance genetics. They aim to breed horses that will be first and foremost athletic, rideable and willing animals, regardless of which discipline they will go on to compete in.
